The Los Angeles Lakers have rescinded the trade to acquire Charlotte Hornets big man Mark Williams after he failed the team’s physical, per Shams Charania.

The trade was intended to bring a significant boost to the Lakers’ roster but was thwarted by what the team refers to as a “failure to satisfy a condition of the trade”. Initially, the Lakers had offered a package including Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, along with future draft picks to secure Williams.

In a statement regarding the cancellation, the Hornets expressed their excitement to welcome Williams back, emphasizing their appreciation for his talent and character. This situation is unusual as the team’s options were limited after the trade deadline passed.
