The 2025 PGA Tour season concludes this week with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will begin the tournament on an equal footing, as the old starting strokes format has been discarded. The winner will receive the Tour Championship trophy, the FedEx Cup trophy, and a hefty $10 million prize from a total purse of $40 million for the event.
Scottie Scheffler, coming off his fifth win at the BMW Championship, is the favorite this week. Already having earned nearly $20 million in earnings during the playoffs, the world number one aims for yet another victory to finish August strongly.
Rory McIlroy, ranked second, will challenge Scheffler, aiming for a strong finish after a rocky season. Other notable past winners like Justin Rose, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Thomas will also be in contention, along with golfers like Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg, and Tommy Fleetwood, looking for their first Tour Championship titles.
