Update on Caitlin Clark's Injury: Ankle Issue Emerges During Recovery
Caitlin Clark's recent ankle injury adds to her challenging recovery as she continues to manage a groin injury.
Caitlin Clark has been sidelined from playing for the Indiana Fever since suffering a groin injury on July 15. However, recent reports indicate that she’s now contending with an additional ankle injury sustained during a workout on August 7 in Phoenix. According to Scott Agness from the Fieldhouse Files, this injury is a mild bone bruise, which, fortunately, should not extend her recovery timeline.
This recent setback adds to an already challenging season for Clark, who previously dealt with a quad injury and two groin injuries. The ongoing issues have frustrated her progress throughout the season, one that many had hoped would be a breakout year.
Additionally, on the same day Clark sustained her ankle injury, the Fever lost both Sydney Colson (torn ACL) and Aari McDonald (broken foot), making their road trip a catastrophic event. They later also lost Sophie Cunningham for the rest of the season due to a torn MCL.
With only 13 games played so far, Clark’s appearances this season have fallen short of expectations as the Fever currently hold the sixth position in the WNBA standings with a record of 19-16, just 2.5 games ahead of the ninth-place LA Sparks.
