Tennessee Women's Basketball Suspends Ruby Whitehorn Indefinitely After Arrest

Ruby Whitehorn is sidelined indefinitely following her arrest for aggravated burglary and domestic assault while preparing for the upcoming season with the Lady Vols.

Tennessee women’s basketball has indefinitely suspended guard Ruby Whitehorn following her arrest for aggravated burglary and domestic assault, according to a team spokesperson. Whitehorn is currently not involved in team activities as the Lady Vols gear up for the upcoming season under coach Kim Caldwell.

Whitehorn was arrested on August 8 during a response to a domestic dispute call. Reports indicate she was involved in a “physical altercation” outside a woman’s residence prior to forcibly entering the home and damaging the doors. Whitehorn stated that she was trying to retrieve her phone and passport.

Previously a transfer from Clemson, Whitehorn participated in all 34 games during her inaugural season with Tennessee, starting in 28 of them. She averaged 11.6 points and 4 rebounds per game while achieving a 46.3% shooting percentage. Additionally, she connected on 29.8% of her three-point attempts.
