Dylan Edwards Suffers Injury in Kansas State's Opening Match Against Iowa State

Kansas State's running back Dylan Edwards was unable to continue after suffering an ankle injury early in the game against Iowa State, which they ultimately lost.

In a disappointing start to the season, Kansas State faced a setback when running back Dylan Edwards suffered an ankle injury shortly after the game’s commencement against Iowa State. The incident occurred in Dublin, Ireland, where Edwards attempted to catch a punt, only to have the ball bounce off his chest due to wet conditions.

Edwards was hit immediately after the mishap, which led to him leaving the field for medical attention. He did not participate further in the game, opting to remain on the sidelines under a towel. Head coach Chris Klieman later confirmed that Edwards would not return for the game.

Edwards, a dynamic player expected to be a key part of Kansas State’s offense this season after transferring from Colorado, was last season’s standout, rushing for significant yards and scoring touchdowns. Following his injury, Joe Jackson, a redshirt sophomore, was appointed as the lead running back, while quarterback Avery Johnson contributed by accounting for the Wildcats’ only touchdown in a challenging match.
