Caitlin Clark Health Update: Fever Player Engaged in Non-Contact Practices But Will Miss Sunday Matchup Against Lynx
Caitlin Clark continues to face injury setbacks, missing her 15th straight game. She's participating in non-contact drills but has no confirmed return date.
Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever is set to miss her 15th consecutive game due to a right groin injury during Sunday’s match against the Minnesota Lynx. Clark initially sustained her injury in the Fever’s victory against the Connecticut Sun on July 15, and there is no specified return date for her.
Clark also suffered a bone bruise on her left ankle during a workout on August 7. The Fever clarified that this ankle issue should not interfere with her groin rehabilitation, stating, “there was no timeline or projected return to play.”
Prior to Sunday, Clark participated in non-contact drills during shootaround, marking her first involvement with the team since her injury.
Caitlin Clark is participating in shootaround this morning, going through warmups then some non-contact drills with the second team.
She has not officially returned to practice, I’m told, but this is her first time working with the team since her injury. Tweet by Chloe Peterson.
Head Coach Stephanie White emphasized the need for a cautious recovery: “It’s day-to-day right now; we’re not putting any timetable on it.** She added that the focus is on her health and being fully fit before returning to play.
White expressed hope for Clark to get back on the court before the season wraps up.
Following Clark’s absence, the Fever are 11-11 without her, while they are 8-5 with her in the lineup as they navigate the final stretch of the regular season, concluding on September 11.
