Umpires Confiscate Astros Player's Bat After Inquiry from Yankees Manager

A dispute arises during a crucial matchup between the Yankees and Astros regarding the legality of a bat used by Taylor Trammell.

The ninth inning of Thursday’s game between the Yankees and Astros saw a delay due to a controversy involving the bat of Houston outfielder Taylor Trammell.

After Trammell hit a double, Yankees manager Aaron Boone requested an inspection of his bat, which was then confiscated by umpires after they noticed discoloration. The bat was authenticated and sent to a league official for further testing at Daikin Park.

Aaron Boone stated regarding the bat:

“It was just something that we noticed this series and asked the league about. You’re not allowed to do anything to your bat. I’m not saying he was…”
Translation: It was noticed during the series and they inquired with the league due to potential legal issues regarding the bat’s condition.

Frustrated, Taylor Trammell responded:

“I’ve had that bat since I’ve been here…I’m never going to cheat or do anything like that.”
Translation: He defended his use of the bat, citing its long-standing use without issues.

The Astros, currently leading their division, faced this unexpected hurdle as they continue their playoff push.
