Ethan Pritchard of Florida State Shows Signs of Recovery Following Shooting Incident

Freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard, who was critically injured in a shooting incident, is beginning to recover, according to Florida State head coach Mike Norvell.

Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is steadily progressing in his recovery after being injured in a shooting incident on August 31. Coach Mike Norvell reported that Pritchard opened his eyes for the first time since the event, which occurred the day after Florida State’s opening game victory against Alabama. Law enforcement states that Pritchard was shot in the back of the head while transporting family members from a gathering.

Norvell commented on his visit to Pritchard’s bedside: “There has been progress. Yesterday, he opened his eyes. It was something that was emotional for everybody, to be honest with you. It’s still a long part of the progress in this process moving forward, but it puts all things in perspective – the appreciation of a blink.”

Authorities apprehended four individuals tied to the shooting, charging three men and a minor with serious charges, including attempted murder. Norvell expressed gratitude for Pritchard’s family support and elaborated on the challenges still ahead in the recovery process.

Florida State honored Pritchard during their first game following the incident, with teammates carrying his jersey for a special tribute at the coin toss.
