US Women's National Team to Conclude 2025 with Friendlies Against Italy, a Surprise Euro Semifinalist

The USWNT aims to wrap up the 2025 season with two matches against Italy at the end of November and early December.

The United States women’s national team is set to finish off 2025 with a pair of friendly matches against Italy, who made it to the semifinals of the UEFA Euro 2025. The games will occur in Orlando, Florida, on November 28 and December 1 in Fort Lauderdale. These matches come in the wake of previous friendlies against Portugal in October.

This will mark the first encounter between the USWNT and Italy in over ten years, with their last meeting being during the FIFA Women’s World Cup playoff in 2010, where the USWNT secured a 2-0 victory.

Both teams are experiencing momentum changes as the year wraps up, with the USWNT coming off two wins against Ireland, while Italy seeks to build on their Euro semifinal showing. Italy currently holds the 12th rank in the world but narrowly lost to the eventual champions, England, in their semifinal match.

“As we prepare for World Cup qualifying at the end of 2026, we want to play teams from all parts of the world with different styles and different strengths, so getting to play Italy, one of Europe’s up-and-coming teams, will be a great way to end the year,” said USWNT head coach Emma Hayes.

In this historic matchup, the USWNT commemorates its 40th year in soccer, concluding the year against the very team that was their inaugural opponent back in 1985, when Italy won the first-ever match between the two nations 1-0.
