Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever Exits Game 5 Due to Cramping
Star player Kelsey Mitchell leaves Game 5 of the WNBA semifinals with cramping, resulting in Indiana Fever's loss to the Las Vegas Aces.
Kelsey Mitchell, a standout guard for the Indiana Fever, unfortunately exited Game 5 of the WNBA semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces due to cramping in her left leg during the match. Post-game, Coach Stephanie White revealed that Mitchell was receiving fluids at the hospital after experiencing significant cramping. Despite her departure, the Fever battled on but ultimately succumbed to a 107-98 defeat in overtime.
“She’s got a lot of lower body cramping. She’s currently at the hospital right now getting fluids,” stated Coach White during the post-game interview.
In the third quarter, Mitchell appeared to grab her knee in distress before collapsing on the court, where her teammates quickly surrounded her for support.
The incident left the Fever in a vulnerable position as they already faced multiple injuries, including Damiris Dantas and Caitlin Clark. Mitchell has been pivotal for her team, averaging 23.3 points in the playoffs. Even while down by four points when she left the game, the Fever’s determination was evident as they forced overtime in her absence, although the Aces increased their intensity to advance to the finals.
Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, who also suffered a devastating injury during last year’s playoffs, was quick to send his good wishes to Mitchell.
