Future Plans for Drew Allar After Ankle Surgery
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar undergoes surgery for a broken ankle, aiming for a comeback as he evaluates his next steps.
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar has successfully undergone surgery on his broken left ankle. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Allar suffered the injury in a 22-21 loss to Northwestern last Saturday, leading to his season being cut short after an announcement from his former coach, James Franklin
“Would miss the rest of the season.”
Currently, he is on track for a complete recovery and could return to workouts soon. The injury happened towards the end of a string of losses that ultimately pressured Penn State’s administration to part ways with Franklin, a surprising move in the 2025 college football landscape.
Allar, a seasoned starter, had hoped to enhance his NFL prospects in his final year of college eligibility but now faces uncertain prospects in light of his injury. This setback draws attention to upcoming preparations for the NFL Draft.
The Nittany Lions will now lean on redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkenmeyer as they proceed with their season, facing Iowa under interim coach Terry Smith.
