JJ Redick, coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, suffered a significant loss as his residence was destroyed by the recent Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, as reported on Thursday.

On Tuesday, due to the wildfire fueled by strong winds in Southern California, Redick confirmed that several family members were evacuated. The fire devastated a hillside in Los Angeles where he and numerous celebrities reside, leading to evacuation orders impacting tens of thousands.

Before the Lakers’ game against the Mavericks in Dallas, Redick expressed his concerns about the dire situation affecting his family and neighbors.

“I just want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now,” Redick stated before the Lakers’ 118-97 defeat. “That’s where I live.
“Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family. Many are scared with the winds coming. Thoughts and prayers for all, and hope everyone stays safe.”

The Lakers’ upcoming game against the Charlotte Hornets was postponed due to the fire’s impact. While officials have not disclosed the number of damaged structures, they reported that approximately 30,000 residents were evacuated and over 13,000 structures are under threat.

The wildfire ignited around 10:30 AM coinciding with a Santa Ana windstorm expected to be the strongest in over a decade. As of now, no injuries have been reported.
