While he hasn’t determined an exact retirement date, Aaron Rodgers has voiced his intent to conclude his career with the Packers when the time arrives. This declaration came in anticipation of Sunday night’s game against the Steelers, marking his first matchup against the franchise where he enjoyed significant achievements over 18 seasons.
“Feel so good about my time there because nearly everything incredible in my life stems from my football career,” Rodgers noted during a Zoom session with Packers reporters. “My football journey begins and will someday finish with Green Bay. I cherish all those experiences.”
Rodgers has fondly reminisced about the Packers leading up to this crucial prime-time clash. He clarified that he holds no resentment towards Green Bay while highlighting that this matchup “is not a revenge game for me.”
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” Rodgers commented. “I have many wonderful memories from my time there, engaging positively with fans over the years. I spent 18 years there, reflecting on great interactions in the community.”
Concerning his plan to retire with the Packers, Rodgers likely implies a ceremonial aspect, as it’s common for celebrated athletes to sign a one-day contract to conclude their careers with the teams where they found most of their success. For now, Rodgers is focused on taking the field to chase records, including potentially becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams in the league.
