Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss a minimum of three months of action due to an injury he sustained during a match in which Napoli defeated Inter 3-1. He suffered a high-grade lesion of the right biceps femoris while taking a crucial penalty that led to Napoli’s opening goal in the game. Following the match, Napoli confirmed that De Bruyne underwent tests at Pineta Grande Hospital which validated the severity of his injury, and he has already started his rehabilitation program. Reports suggest that he won’t return until 2026.
On Monday, Napoli stated:
“Following the injury sustained during the match against Inter, Kevin De Bruyne underwent instrumental tests at the Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a high-grade lesion of the right biceps femoris. The Napoli midfielder has already begun his rehabilitation program.”
The injury presents considerable challenges for manager Antonio Conte, who will need to adjust his tactical strategy, especially after Napoli’s successful formation change earlier in the season. Without De Bruyne, Conte may revert to previous strategies to have a fighting chance in upcoming matches. De Bruyne’s absence, along with injuries to other key players like Stanislav Lobotka, Alex Meret, and Romelu Lukaku, will test Napoli’s depth and adaptability as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the Serie A standings.
