If you thought another Ole Miss alum would become the head coach of the New York Giants, you may be disappointed. With current coach Brian Daboll facing uncertainty, questions abound regarding potential successors.
In light of rookie star Jaxson Dart impressing at quarterback, speculation has risen about whether the Giants might reach out to Lane Kiffin, his former coach, about a return to the NFL. However, according to Brandon Dart, Jaxson’s father, such a scenario seems unlikely.
“As we were texting on our Kiffin-Dart family thread, I think Boomer Esiason mentioned something in the media, suggesting a coaching offer to Kiffin. He responded with a smirk, saying, ‘It’s too cold in New York for me.’ It’s amusing.”
Despite Kiffin’s potential as a candidate, many are focused on the precarious position of Daboll, especially considering the Giants’ dismal performance at 2-8 after Week 10, coupled with a current four-game losing streak.
Alternative Coaching Candidates
-
Jesse Minter, Defensive Coordinator, Los Angeles Chargers
- Although a preference might be for an offensive-minded coach, Minter’s experience in developing dominant defenses could benefit the Giants.
-
Kliff Kingsbury, Offensive Coordinator, Washington Commanders
- Kingsbury’s track record in enhancing offensive capabilities can be appealing, especially considering the development needs of Dart.
-
Klint Kubiak, Offensive Coordinator, Seattle Seahawks
- Kubiak’s recent success in transforming the Seahawks into a high-performing offense heightens his candidacy for the upcoming cycle.
