Avalanche Still Reigns Supreme Following Week 7 of the NHL Season

An overview of NHL power rankings as the Colorado Avalanche continues their dominance.

In late October, the Colorado Avalanche faced a tough stretch with four games without a victory, including losses in overtime and a shootout, concluding with a regulation defeat against the Boston Bruins. Since that period, the Avalanche have gone 12-0-1, winning all four contests last week and entering Week 8 with a 10-game winning streak.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Minnesota Wild also had strong weeks, with the Lightning finishing 5-0-0 and the Wild going 4-0-0. In contrast, the Chicago Blackhawks struggled, recording just one victory during Week 7 and dropping out of the top 10 rankings.

Here’s the NHL power ratings following Week 7:

1. Colorado Avalanche (4-0-0 in Week 7; 17-1-5 overall)

Not only has the Avalanche shown a potent offense, scoring 94 goals overall with three consecutive shutouts, but they also displayed defensive strength.
