Kansas Basketball Faces UConn in Key Matchup
The Kansas Jayhawks prepare for a critical game against the UConn Huskies amidst notable college basketball rankings.
The Thanksgiving weekend may have been quiet, as was Monday. However, college basketball will pick up steam on Tuesday with the onset of Big Ten matches and three key games involving six of the most prominent programs of this century.
Here are the matchups to look out for:
- 7:30 p.m. ET: Florida at Duke
- 9 p.m. ET: UConn at Kansas
- 9:30 p.m. ET: North Carolina at Kentucky
As highlighted in Monday’s Top 25 And 1 update, these six teams have collectively bagged 16 of the last 21 national championships. Florida, Duke, UConn, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky hold a striking 76.2% share of national titles since 2003.
Tuesday is set to be thrilling!
Additionally, a significant query for the day was whether Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson would return after a long absence since Nov. 7. Coach Bill Self confirmed on social media at 12:29 p.m. ET that he will not be playing. “Darryn is not going to play tonight,” Self stated. “He is very close [to returning]. He has worked hard, but he is still not 100%. He is day-to-day.”
Despite this setback, it remains a top-15 battle, with UConn ranked No. 4 and Kansas at No. 13 in Tuesday morning’s CBS Sports rankings.
At Allen Fieldhouse, UConn is favored by 1.5 points, marking only the third instance in 22 years where Self has faced an underdog position at home. The previous two occasions were against Baylor and Houston, both of which the Jayhawks managed to win.
