This year’s prize purse has soared to $30,331,250, marking a record high in the event’s illustrious history and crossing the $30 million threshold for the first time ever.

This amount illustrates how far the race has come since its inception when the first Daytona 500 in 1959 awarded a mere $53,050.

Notably, the purse for the support races from NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series will be just $3,762,952 and $1,262,900, respectively.

To put this in perspective, in the year 2000, the Daytona 500 purse had already reached $7,646,975, almost doubling within the ensuing decade, demonstrating the race’s growing significance in the motorsports arena.
