Fight Overview
Jake Paul is gearing up for his most formidable challenge yet against Anthony Joshua. Their highly anticipated bout is scheduled for Friday after Paul shifted focus from his previous opponent, Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
Match Details
This professional boxing match, unlike previous exhibition fights, will affect both fighters’ professional records. Paul (12-1, 6 KOs) and Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) will compete wearing the standard 10-ounce gloves used in heavyweight bouts. Paul has typically used 10-ounce gloves, aside from his match against Mike Tyson where he sported 14-ounce gloves.
The fight will occur at heavyweight, which takes away Paul’s usual weight edge. Typically fighting at cruiserweight 65 pounds heavier than Davis, Paul’s only heavyweight experience came against Tyson, who is significantly older. Notably, Joshua cannot exceed 245 pounds for this showdown.
Quotes from Joshua
“It’s my job. We fight. We’re licensed to kill. I’m sure many people don’t understand it, but this is what my job is. When you’re in that ring, it’s a dangerous place to be and anything can happen. You hope your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don’t, you still have to go to bed knowing that you just did your job. It wasn’t personal.”

Joshua usually competes in 12-round fights, but this match is set for eight three-minute rounds. Paul’s victory will require him to adapt quickly, considering Joshua’s higher caliber as a two-time heavyweight champion and past Olympic gold medalist.
This matchup will be held at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
