Tyler Adams Suffers MCL Tear, Expected to be Out for Three Months

U.S. midfielder Tyler Adams faces a lengthy recovery from a medial collateral ligament tear, impacting both his club and national team prospects.

United States international Tyler Adams will be sidelined for up to three months due to a tear in his medial collateral ligament, as stated by Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola on Friday.

Adams sustained the injury during the early minutes of the Premier League match against Manchester United last Monday.

“Tyler has torn his MCL so he will definitely be out for some time,” Iraola mentioned. “Based on our previous experiences with MCL injuries, the recovery is usually around two to three months.”

“This is a significant setback as he is a crucial player for us. The moment we observed how the injury occurred, we sensed it could be serious.”

Adams’ injury also poses challenges for the U.S. national team in preparation for the upcoming World Cup. He has faced multiple injury challenges over recent seasons, including back surgery last year, although he had been a consistent presence for Bournemouth this season.
