Josh Hoover from TCU Set to Join Indiana

Josh Hoover, a notable quarterback from TCU, is expected to transfer to Indiana as a potential replacement for Fernando Mendoza.

The Indiana Hoosiers have secured a promising quarterback who could step in for Fernando Mendoza if the reigning Heisman Trophy winner proceeds with entering the 2026 NFL Draft. As reported by Matt Zenitz from CBS Sports, former TCU signal-caller Josh Hoover is likely to commit to Indiana.

Hoover recently wrapped up a season completing 65.9% of his passes for a total of 3,472 yards, recording 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while leading TCU to an 8-4 record as their starting quarterback. This followed a challenging prior season, where TCU’s attack struggled after the departure of their top three wide receivers to the NFL.

As a sophomore in 2024, he set a record at TCU, throwing for 3,949 yards alongside 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, leading the Big 12 with 60 completions of over 20 yards. Only Garrett Nussmeier of LSU matched his average of 300 passing yards during that timeframe.

Indiana is currently regarded as a powerhouse in college football, with Curt Cignetti boasting an impressive 25-2 record, including a flawless 14-0 season that featured a Big Ten Championship win against the Ohio State Buckeyes and a No. 1 seed for the College Football Playoff. Recently, they secured a dominant 38-3 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl and are set to face the Oregon Ducks in the Peach Bowl this Friday.

As the first ever top four seed and conference champion to reach College Football Playoff semifinals, Indiana has already recorded the highest number of wins in a single season in its history.
