Ruben Amorim's Intentions Amid Manchester United Uncertainty

Amid a challenging Premier League season, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim insists he will fulfill his contract obligations, hinting at a future change.

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has expressed his intention to fulfill his contract, which is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2026-27 season. During a recent match against Leeds United, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Amorim remarked on his commitment to the team despite the challenges faced this season. Leeds initially took the lead through Brenden Aaronson, only for Matheus Cunha to equalize shortly after. This result leaves United in fifth place in the Premier League, still within reach of a UEFA Champions League spot, but with just one win from their past five matches.

Amorim highlighted that his tenure, which began in November 2024, has seen its ups and downs, increasingly suggesting that any disconnect with the club’s management extends beyond performance on the pitch. He stated:

“I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United, and that is clear.”

Amorim also mentioned that he is prepared to stay for the full length of his contract, after which both he and the club may determine the next steps.

Amorim noted:

“I just want to say I’m going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach, and I was really clear on that, and that is going to finish in 18 months, and then, everyone is going to move on.”

His comments indicate a desire for clarity on the expectations and roles at the club as he navigates the pressures of his position.
