Eric Ramsay Approaching Move to West Bromwich Albion from Minnesota United

Eric Ramsay, the head coach of Minnesota United, is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with EFL Championship side West Bromwich Albion as they look for a new manager.

Eric Ramsay, the head coach of Minnesota United, is reportedly nearing an agreement to take over as the new head coach of West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Championship, as confirmed by sources at CBS Sports. West Brom has been actively seeking a replacement after dismissing Ryan Mason on Tuesday, quickly focusing their attention on Ramsay, who is the youngest English coach to earn the UEFA Pro Licence. The Baggies currently stand 18th in the Championship, just seven points above the relegation zone and ten points away from the playoffs, aiming for stability as they look for their sixth manager in four and a half years since their relegation from the Premier League.

Pending the finalization of contract details before his official unveiling, it remains unclear if Ramsay will be on the sidelines when West Brom faces off against Swansea City in the FA Cup’s third round on Sunday. Following that, they will have a break before a home match against Middlesbrough on Friday, January 16.

Ramsay has had a successful start to his coaching career, guiding Minnesota United to the Eastern Conference semifinals during both of his seasons in charge. This achievement has attracted interest from several clubs in England’s second tier, with Southampton reportedly having considered him before opting for Will Still this past summer. He was also previously linked with West Brom before Mason’s appointment.

Before his tenure with Minnesota, Ramsay was the head coach of Chelsea’s U23 team, collaborated with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, and served as the assistant manager for the Welsh national team.
