Manchester United has compiled a four-man shortlist for the coaching position, eyeing Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique and USMNT’s Mauricio Pochettino among others. Following a 1-1 stalemate with Leeds United, coach Ruben Amorim was dismissed after just 14 months in charge, fueling the search for a suitable replacement.
The club had been underwhelmed by interim manager Darren Fletcher, who managed a draw and a defeat during his short tenure. As the search continues, former player Michael Carrick is poised to take over until the end of the current season, marking his second interim period after filling in during 2021.
With Pochettino and Enrique on their radar, Manchester United aims to secure a seasoned manager capable of handling the immense pressure of Old Trafford. Enrique especially, having achieved considerable success, is considered a leading candidate, especially since he is entering the final year of his contract. However, any speculation regarding his departure from PSG has been dismissed as false by the club’s sporting director, Luis Campos.
As Manchester United prepares for future challenges, Carrick’s debut training session will commence as the team gears up for matches against rival clubs like Manchester City and league leaders Arsenal.
