The Texas Rangers and the Washington Nationals have reached an agreement to trade lefty MacKenzie Gore to Texas. The Nationals will receive five prospects in return, most notably infielder Gavin Fien, who was one of the top picks in last summer’s draft. Other players moving to Washington include Abimelec Ortiz, Devin Fitz-Gerald, Alejandro Rosario, and Yeremy Cabrera.
MacKenzie Gore, 26, previously achieved All-Star status last summer, showcasing a strong performance with a 4.19 ERA over multiple seasons, contributing significantly to his team’s successes. Texas aims to strengthen its pitching rotation with Gore, who remains under team control through at least the 2027 season.
Previously, Gore was acquired by the Nationals as part of the blockbuster deal that sent superstar outfielder Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres. Paul Toboni, the new lead executive for the Nationals, orchestrated this trade as part of his strategy to reshape the team’s roster.
