Argentina's National Football Team to Hold Training Camp in Kansas City for Upcoming World Cup

Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Argentina’s National Team, under the direction of Coach Lionel Scaloni, will establish their training base in Kansas City. The team is set to compete in their first match of the tournament against Algeria on June 16th in the same city. Although their subsequent games will be held in Dallas, the Albiceleste opted for Kansas City due to its advantageous location and climate.

Kansas City, a Champion’s Base

As the reigning World Cup champions, Argentina have determined their training camp location to maintain their title from 2022: Kansas City, MO. Their debut match will take place on June 16 against Algeria at Arrowhead Stadium. This World Cup is anticipated to be Lionel Messi’s last appearance in the tournament.

After Comprehensive Research

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) shared that several inspection visits were made, led by Luis Martín (Physical Trainer), Juan Tamone (Alternate Physical Trainer), and administrators Daniel Cabrera and Alberto Pernas. An extensive report concluded Kansas City is ideal for the team based on the amenities and city distances.

MLS Relationships

Lionel Scaloni’s squad will utilize the Compass Minerals National Performance Center for training, which is the same facility where the local MLS team, Sporting Kansas City, trains.
