Ja Morant Faces Week-to-Week Recovery from Shoulder Injury

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is sidelined with a sprained shoulder following a collision during a recent game.

Ja Morant has a sprained right shoulder and will be considered week to week, according to the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant was injured during the third quarter of the Grizzlies’ 132-124 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans when he crashed into a hard, but legal, screen set by Daniel Theis. After the collision, Morant kept his right arm hanging down by his hurt shoulder as he returned to the bench.

The Grizzlies confirmed Morant has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 AC joint sprain and stated that further updates will be provided when available.

Morant struggled last season, appearing in only nine games before he suffered a torn labrum in the same shoulder that ended his season. Currently, he is averaging 21.2 points across 20 games this season. Earlier this season, he missed eight games due to a posterior hip subluxation and several Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains.
