England and Argentina Select Kansas City for 2026 World Cup

England has selected Kansas City as their training ground for the upcoming World Cup, sharing this choice with Argentina, who has also chosen the same city.

The English team will utilize Swope Soccer Village, the training base for Sporting Kansas City II, a member of the MLS Next Pro league.

England’s Decision for Base

As they prepare for the World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, England’s choice of Kansas City serves a strategic purpose. While they will not have any group matches there, the central location was a key factor. Their matches include a game against Croatia in Dallas and others in Boston and New York.

Argentina will conduct their training at the facilities of Sporting KC.

A recent statement clarified: “England will be based in Kansas City, Missouri for the entire duration of the tournament. Swope Soccer Village has been identified due to its ideal location following an extensive search.”

Aiming for Glory

Manager Thomas Tuchel expressed the team’s ambition to secure the trophy, which has eluded them for 60 years:

“Yes, because we have got better. We have to arrive and try to make a special thing happen.”
Translation: Yes, because we have improved. We must come ready to create something special.

Tuchel stresses the importance of respect for their group-stage rivals, which include Croatia, Ghana, and Panama, asserting that each team deserves full respect as they prepare for their matches.

Looking Ahead

In preparation, England will also face Uruguay and Japan in friendly matches, with both set to take place at Wembley Stadium.
