Can a Teenager from Germany Join the USA World Cup Team?

Noahkai Banks, a rising star in soccer, has made waves in the Bundesliga and is being considered for the USA national team.

Noahkai Banks, born in Hawaii and raised in Germany, is one of the few teenage central defenders competing in Europe’s top leagues. After not having played in the Bundesliga prior to last season, Banks has become a regular starter for FC Augsburg, making 17 appearances in the last 18 matches.

During a recent press conference, Banks expressed his humility:

“My mom would kick my ass if I’m not grounded anymore, so there is no chance of that.”

Despite his impressive performances, Banks remains focused on club duties, stating:

“It’s not the right moment to think about the World Cup for me…I really just focus on the games we have here.”

With the World Cup selections approaching, Banks’s options are open. Coach Mauricio Pochettino has remarked on Banks’s potential, calling him a “massive talent.”

As the competition for spots on the national team heats up, Banks has made it known that his current loyalty lies with the USA, emphasizing that he is content where he is. Beyond his club success, he carries the ambition of representing the U.S. at significant international tournaments.
