MLS Bans Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah for Gambling Violations

The MLS has handed lifetime bans to Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah after they were found to have violated the league's gambling policies by betting on matches.

MLS has issued lifetime bans to Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah, who were found to have violated gambling regulations. Both players had been provisionally suspended since last October as investigations uncovered that they had “extensively” bet on soccer matches, including those involving their own teams. The investigation also revealed that they wagered on Jones receiving a yellow card during a match in 2024, which he did.

In a statement, MLS commissioner Don Garber emphasized the league’s commitment to maintaining match integrity and stated that the league will continue to enforce its policies. Both players had previously been suspended after the league flagged unusual activities to the authorities. As of now, neither player holds a contract with any MLS club.
