LeBron James Contemplated NFL Career During 2011 Lockout
LeBron James shared insights about his brief consideration of joining the NFL during the NBA lockout, discussing sports comparisons with the Kelce brothers.
Travis Kelce recently expressed he felt nervous at the start of his podcast when LeBron James was their guest. In their conversation, they reminisced about the Cleveland area and discussed James’s past thoughts about potentially entering the NFL during the 2011 NBA lockout.
“The only time I’ve really taken it super seriously was in 2011 when we had the NBA lockout,” LeBron shared. “I didn’t know when we were going to make the deal with the owners and get our league back going, so I actually thought about it a little bit back then.”
During their talk, they also tackled the debate of whether transitioning from the NBA to the NFL is easier, with LeBron stating:
“I think it’s easier for a basketball player to try NFL over the NFL player trying to get into the NBA.”
This podcast highlighted James’s admiration for his son, Bronny James, and his experiences as a father supporting Bronny’s ambitions in basketball.
“To see him every day grinding, and going through the process of trying to become who he wants to become while I’m sitting there just watching him and doing the things he wants to do… I love that kid. He’s awesome.”
