The bout was stopped after three rounds when Cejudo informed his corner that he could not see after receiving the poke from Song. Cejudo utilized his entire recovery period but ultimately decided to proceed. Despite competing through Round 3, the situation led the referee, Jason Herzog, to stop the fight to consult the doctor. Because three rounds were completed, official judges’ scorecards were used to declare Song the winner with scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27. This decision awarded Song a significant victory against a former champion. Notably, Cejudo is now on a losing streak, having lost all three fights since his return from retirement.
