Lakers and Clippers Postpone Games Due to Wildfires in Los Angeles
The Lakers and Clippers have decided to delay their home games because of ongoing wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area.
The Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers are postponing their home games on Saturday due to the ongoing wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area.
The Lakers were set to face the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Center, while the Clippers were scheduled to host the Charlotte Hornets at the Intuit Dome.
The Lakers had previously postponed their game against the Hornets on Wednesday. The Clippers have just returned from a two-game road trip.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently lost his home in the Palisades Fire. He expressed a desire to compete on Saturday, stating:
“We’re prepared for whatever tomorrow. We, obviously, are going to work with the NBA, the Spurs, the city and do what’s right. I want to play tomorrow. I want to coach tomorrow. I want these guys to play tomorrow. If we can play, we’ll play.”
Additionally, Kawhi Leonard was excused from the Clippers to assist his family with evacuations on Tuesday but rejoined the team on Friday.
Both teams have home games scheduled for Monday against the Spurs and the Miami Heat, respectively.
