The Chicago Bears have traded for two offensive guards in quick succession. On Wednesday, they secured Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs, sending a fourth-round pick in 2026 as part of the deal, as reported by CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones.
Thuney, who will turn 33 this November, had previously signed a five-year deal with the Chiefs in 2021 after a successful stint with the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls. Recently, he filled in at left tackle due to injuries among the Chiefs’ roster. With Thuney’s arrival, the Bears aim to strengthen their offensive line, an essential move as quarterback Caleb Williams faced significant pressure last season.
Expect an extension for Thuney before he plays his first game with the Bears, as he brings a cap hit of $16 million to Chicago. This trade reflects Chicago’s strategy to enhance its offensive capabilities, ensuring better protection for Williams.
