Central Connecticut State extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 13 games on Wednesday, beginning NEC Tournament play with an 86-67 win over No. 8 seed Le Moyne. The top-seeded Blue Devils haven’t lost since January 12 and will continue on to the semifinals to face No. 4 seed FDU on Saturday after FDU defeated No. 5 seed Stonehill 71-56.
The conference tournament action will intensify on Thursday as the West Coast Conference and Missouri Valley start their tournaments. Other leagues are also progressing towards crowning their champions. The Horizon League and Ohio Valley will be in quarterfinal action while the ASUN holds its semifinals. The top-seeded Lipscomb and No. 2 seed North Alabama are both aiming for a place in the ASUN title game on Sunday.
With Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament approaching on March 16, this week will see various conference tournaments kick off, with teams vying for their shot at automatic bids.
