Will the United States Pursue a Joint Bid with Mexico for the 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup?

As FIFA unveils new bidding processes for future Women's World Cups, the U.S. Soccer Federation expresses excitement while Mexico remains silent.

FIFA recently announced its plans for new competitions alongside the bidding process for the upcoming Women’s World Cups in 2031 and 2035. While U.S. Soccer has expressed enthusiasm, Mexico remains unresponsive regarding their plans after previously collaborating on a 2027 bid.

U.S. Soccer stated their excitement about proceeding with the bid, emphasizing the opportunity to inspire future female athletes and the ongoing momentum in women’s soccer.

A joint bid with Mexico is still of interest, albeit less immediate compared to when the 2027 bid was launched. The focus now shifts to infrastructure and preparations for upcoming tournaments, culminating in a decision by FIFA in 2026 regarding the host nation for the 2031 event.

Notably, previous Women’s World Cups held in the U.S. have set records in attendance and viewership. U.S. Soccer aims to leverage its experience and resources to secure its position as a host for future tournaments.
