
FC Barcelona vs. Osasuna Match Delayed Following Passing of Doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia
The La Liga match between FC Barcelona and Osasuna has been postponed due to the death of the team's first physician.
The match scheduled between FC Barcelona and Osasuna was meant to commence at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday but has been postponed due to the unfortunate passing of the club’s first-team doctor, Carles Miñarro Garcia. Reports indicate he died at the hotel where the team was staying prior to the match.
The team requested to cancel today’s game, and the club issued the following statement:
“FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date.”
Players expressed their sorrow online, with Pedri posting on Instagram,
“I still don’t believe it. A strong hug for the family and friends of Carles.”
The RFEF expressed condolences as well, stating:
“The RFEF regrets the death of the doctor of the first team of FC Barcelona, Dr. Carles Miñarro, and informs that for this reason, the FC Barcelona-Osasuna match scheduled for today has been postponed, pending the decision of the competition judge. The RFEF would like to express its most sincere condolences to the family, friends, the club, and fans and joins in their grief.”
As the season progresses, FC Barcelona will have to find a suitable time within their demanding schedule to reschedule this La Liga match. Currently, they are engaged in a Champions League round of 16 matchup and are preparing for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals against Atletico Madrid on April 2.
