Steelers Acquire DK Metcalf from Seahawks in Major Trade Deal

Pittsburgh secures a star receiver, sending a 2025 second-round pick to Seattle.

After a year of courting, the Pittsburgh Steelers have successfully secured their coveted receiver. They are trading a second-round pick in 2025 to the Seattle Seahawks for DK Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowl star. As part of the deal, Pittsburgh is also giving Metcalf a five-year contract worth $150 million, placing him among the top echelon of receivers in the league.

In acquiring Metcalf, who stands at six-foot-four and weighs 235 pounds, the Steelers are adding an explosive playmaker who scored 48 touchdowns during his six seasons in Seattle. At only 27 years old, he boasts three seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards. Last season, Metcalf amassed 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 15 yards per reception.

Pittsburgh is still in the process of evaluating its quarterback situation. The addition of Metcalf could play a pivotal role in attracting a new quarterback, with reports indicating that they are interested in re-signing either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. Should Wilson be chosen, he would reunite with Metcalf, with whom he forged a Pro Bowl-caliber connection in the past.

This acquisition signals the Steelers’ intent to finally break their eight-year playoff win drought, showcasing their commitment to revitalizing their struggling offense.
