Neymar is engaged in discussions with Chicago Fire FC and two other clubs regarding his potential transition to Major League Soccer, as reported by ESPN.
Currently, Inter Miami, where Neymar’s former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi plays, isn’t among the teams interested.
When asked about a possible move to Inter Miami earlier this month, Neymar left the option open saying, “Who knows? Football is full of surprises.”
The 32-year-old Brazilian star plays for Al-Hilal SFC in the Saudi Pro League; he joined the team in August 2023 with a significant contract but has suffered injuries, limiting him to just seven games over two seasons, including a serious knee injury.
Neymar’s contract is set to expire this summer, and while he has mentioned his happiness in Saudi Arabia, he noted that reuniting with Messi and Suárez in Miami would be “incredible”.
“They are my friends. We still communicate. Reviving this trio would be interesting,” he said.
However, his main focus lies in securing a spot on Brazil’s roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. “I want to be there. I recognize this will be my last World Cup — my last opportunity, and I will do everything possible to partake in it,” Neymar stated.
He last represented Brazil during World Cup qualifiers in 2023, scoring two goals and providing three assists in four matches. Since December 7, he has not played for Al-Hilal due to a hamstring injury.
