Major League Soccer’s 30th season is in full swing, and fans eagerly await the upcoming All-Star game in Austin. The MLS All-Stars will compete against Liga MX All-Stars once again at Q2 Stadium this July. This matchup marks the fourth instance in five years that Liga MX will be featured.
“We are thrilled to once again host LIGA MX at the 2025 MLS All-Star Game, showcasing the best talent from our leagues,” stated MLS Executive Vice President Camilo Durana. “It’s an exciting matchup for the first-ever professional All-Star Game played in Austin, bringing a vibrant on-field rivalry to the passionate Austin community and to fans worldwide on MLS Season Pass via the Apple TV app.”
With MLS players like Giorgos Giakoumakis and Mateusz Bogusz transitioning to Liga MX along with global superstars such as Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez, the event promises a star-studded spectacle. This shift reflects MLS’s strategy of nurturing domestic rivalries rather than exclusively scheduling European teams as opponents, with Arsenal being the last European team they faced back in 2023.
The MLS All-Stars have achieved one victory, one draw (which they won on penalties), and one defeat against the Liga MX counterparts. With enhanced interactions emerging through the Concacaf Champions Cup and the Leagues Cup, this annual game fosters a growing rivalry between the two leagues. The choice to host the game in Austin offers supporters a chance to experience the electric atmosphere of Q2 Stadium, which has consistently sold out home matches since its inception, ensuring strong interest in both the All-Star game and the related festivities.
