Profar’s Suspension
Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar has been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball (MLB) after failing a performance-enhancing drug test. The Braves announced this decision on Monday, prohibiting him from participating in the 2025 postseason, a significant blow for a team seeking playoff success.
The club’s statement confirmed their dismay regarding Profar’s positive test results and reiterated their support for the league’s anti-drug program.

Profar, aged 32, had a promising start to the season, going 3 for 15 in the Braves’ first four games. After a lengthy free agency, he signed with Atlanta for $42 million following a stellar 2024 season with the San Diego Padres.
The Braves recently acquired Stuart Fairchild from the Cincinnati Reds to fill the outfield position alongside other players like Michael Harris II and Alex Verdugo. The Braves entered the day as one of the few remaining winless teams in MLB, set to start a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers shortly.
