After being placed on the non-football illness list due to blood clots, Christian Barmore, defensive lineman for the New England Patriots, received encouraging news regarding his health. Head Coach Mike Vrabel mentioned he expects Barmore to be part of the team’s offseason program, which starts on April 7.
Barmore had a challenging season in 2024, missing a significant portion after being diagnosed with blood clots last summer. Although he returned to play four games later in the season, he faced complications that sidelined him once again.
“He popped in the other day to see the doctors. When he walked into the training room, just his energy and presence, so I know that he’s feeling better,” said Vrabel, as reported by ESPN. “We take the health of our players extremely seriously when discussing something this critical, and we’re developing a solid plan for him.”
Barmore, who signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $92 million last year—marking one of the biggest contracts in franchise history aside from Tom Brady—has solidified his position as an essential asset to the team since being drafted in the second round. Last season, he recorded 64 total tackles and 8.5 sacks, defining himself as a key player on the defensive line.
