Abdul Carter Believes He Could Join the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft

Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter thinks the Giants might pick him in the upcoming draft, drawing comparisons to NFL legend Lawrence Taylor.

In less than a week, we will know which player the New York Giants will draft with their No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. One strong candidate is Penn State’s edge rusher Abdul Carter. He has suggested on social media that he knows who the Giants might choose, often referencing Giants legend Lawrence Taylor.

Carter has notably tweeted about Taylor recently, even sharing a picture of him from the Giants’ facilities. Just this Thursday, he posted “#56” under a highlight video shared by the Penn State football program, as Taylor famously wore that number during his time with the Giants.

On their end, the Giants seem open to adding talent at the pass rusher position. Despite already having several strong pass rushers like Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, General Manager Joe Schoen mentioned that they would not overlook a player like Carter.

“I don’t think so,” Schoen stated, via Yahoo! Sports. “While everyone watched the Super Bowl, we know Philly won without many pass rushers. It provides numerous options. Carter’s versatility and young age (just 21) make him an exciting prospect. You can never have enough pass rushers.”

Carter could potentially emerge as the Giants’ leading edge rusher, possibly surpassing Burns, a two-time Pro Bowler with a consistent record of 8 sacks per season for the last five years. This underscores Carter’s high regard as a prospect. The Giants would be wise to consider him if he is the best remaining player at their draft position.
