The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, and most experts seem to have a solid feel for the first couple of picks. The Tennessee Titans are all but a lock to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. The Cleveland Browns are reportedly focused on star wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
However, the New Orleans Saints are already exploring a trade up from their current position in the second round (No. 40 overall), according to ESPN.
The Saints hold the No. 9 pick, but they may leverage extra third and fourth-round picks to get back into the first round for a premier quarterback prospect, especially with incumbent starter Derek Carr potentially sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is projected as a first-round talent, with some analysts suggesting he may drop to the end of Round 1. The Saints have also hosted Alabama’s Jalen Milroe for private workouts this offseason.
