2025 NFL Draft: Notable Achievements and Puzzling Picks in Rounds 2-3

A detailed overview of the standout selections and surprising choices from the second and third rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 2025 NFL Draft continued with Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday evening, showcasing early fireworks. Ohio State running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson were two of the first six picks in the second round. Additionally, Tyler Shough was drafted at #40 overall by the New Orleans Saints, and Shedeur Sanders fell out of the first 102 selections, leading to a shocking development.

The second phase of the draft is often more unpredictable, and the Houston Texans added two receivers from Iowa State. The New England Patriots also picked up two weapons for quarterback Drake Maye, and the Dallas Cowboys landed players previously projected to go in the first round.

Home Runs

Washington Commanders CB Trey Amos (Round 2, pick 61)
Amos could be the key to countering major passing threats in their division. His selection at No. 61 is considered a steal given his performance statistics, including 50 tackles and three interceptions in his last season.

Grade: A
“GM Adam Peters remains on the ball. Amos is a consistently dependable cornerback showcasing notable tackling skills. The Commanders needed fresh talent in their secondary, and they secured it effectively.”

New England Patriots WR Kyle Williams (Round 3, pick 69)
Williams is a dynamic playmaker who caught 70 passes for 1,198 yards last season. His potential in a young receiver group at New England could be vital as they gear up for the upcoming season.

Grade: B+
“Williams brings the explosiveness needed to stretch defenses. His previous performances indicate consistent productivity, making him a valuable addition to the Patriots.”

Dallas Cowboys CB Shavon Revel Jr. (Round 3, pick 76)
Revel was expected to go higher had it not been for an ACL injury but could still be a game-changer for Dallas. With impressive stats from previous seasons, the Cowboys might have snagged a top talent at bargain pricing.

Grade: A+
“Revel’s versatility and previous skill level makes him a solid pick. This acquisition boosts the Cowboys’ defense as they continue to seek new talent.”

Head-Scratchers

Tennessee Titans EDGE Oluwafemi Oladejo (Round 2, pick 52)
Despite notable stats in college, many felt that this was a risk to take at this spot; his raw talent may require extensive development time.

Grade: B+
“While Oladejo has potential, selecting him earlier than talented prospects could prove to be a mistake for the Titans.”

Denver Broncos WR Pat Bryant (Round 3, pick 74)
The Broncos bolstered their receiver lineup, but it was surprising to see Bryant taken so early given his previous rankings. Time will tell if he can live up to expectations.

Grade: B-
“Bryant’s overall potential is solid; however, the early pick raises eyebrows among analysts due to the talent available later.”

Cleveland Browns QB Dillon Gabriel (Round 3, pick 94)
As a Heisman finalist, Gabriel dropped much further than anticipated, raising questions about his NFL viability.

Grade: C
“Gabriel has experience but must mitigate his limitations in skill to succeed at the next level.”
