The 151st running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for May 3, 2025 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. On Saturday, the 20 horses learned their post assignments.
The favorite, Journalism (3-1), drew post 8, while other contenders include Sovereignty (5-1) in post 18, and Sandman (6-1) in post 17, historically the only post without a Derby winner.
Last year’s champion, Mystik Dan, won from post 3, the first to do so since 1998. Meanwhile, the 14 gate hasn’t seen a victory since Carry Back in 1961.
