Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard has undergone surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, an injury he sustained on Sunday during a playoff defeat against the Indiana Pacers.

Lillard was injured midway through the first quarter of the Bucks’ 129-103 loss in Game 4 of their first-round playoff series. The team confirmed the severity of the injury on Monday.

In Game 5 on Tuesday, the Bucks played without Lillard and were narrowly defeated 119-118 in overtime, ending their playoff run.

Lillard had previously returned from deep vein thrombosis, an abnormal blood clot in his right calf, addressing concerns about his health and performance. During the season, he ranked 10th in both scoring (24.9 points) and assists (7.1) while being named to his ninth All-Star Game.
