The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled infielder Hyeseong Kim from Triple-A Oklahoma City, making his major league debut as Tommy Edman heads to the injured list due to ankle inflammation. Edman, who missed several games recently, had his IL stint retroactively backdated to April 30, as teams are permitted to apply an IL stay within three days since the player’s last game appearance.
Kim, acquired by the Dodgers on a multi-year deal worth $12.5 million guaranteed just four months ago, had previously played in the Korea Baseball Organization. In 27 Triple-A games, he recorded a batting line of .257/.323/.478, hitting five home runs and stealing 13 bases.
His promotion comes as the Dodgers continue their strong season, boasting a 22-10 record, currently leading the National League West.
