Tyrese Haliburton's Late Heroics Deny Donovan Mitchell's Brilliance

Tyrese Haliburton's last-second 3-pointer ensures Indiana Pacers win against Cleveland Cavaliers in a thrilling playoff game.

Tyrese Haliburton landed a crucial 3-pointer with just 1.1 seconds left, leading the Indiana Pacers to a dramatic 120-119 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals. This win gives the Pacers a 2-0 series advantage.

Haliburton excelled in the final quarter, scoring 11 out of his total 19 points during that crucial stretch. Following a steal by Andrew Nembhard from Cleveland’s Max Strus, the Pacers seized their chance. After getting fouled, Haliburton made the first of two free throws but missed the second. Nonetheless, he recovered the offensive rebound, stepped back to the 3-point line and nailed a shot from the top of the key.

This latest feat marks Haliburton’s second consecutive late-game heroics, having contributed 22 points in their previous game against the Cavaliers. “It’s remarkable seeing Ty hit such game-winners,” said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. “We are indeed fortunate to have him on our team.”

Both Myles Turner and Aaron Nesmith topped the scoring for Indiana with 23 points each. The Pacers have now managed to win their first two playoff games on the road, a feat not accomplished since 1994.

Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell stood out with 48 points, even as the team struggled due to injuries among their key players. The missing stars include NBA Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter.

“We played well for most of the game but then faltered at the end,” stated Jarrett Allen, who scored 22 points and collected 12 rebounds. “They took advantage of our mistakes, making it difficult for us to maintain our lead.”

With playoff history on the line, this performance marks a significant moment for both teams.
