Paul Pierce's Humorous Journey to Work After Celtics' Loss

After the Celtics' surprising defeat, Paul Pierce humorously walked eight hours to work in a bathrobe, sharing his journey on social media.

The New York Knicks shocked the Boston Celtics again on Wednesday night, battling back from a 20-point deficit to secure a victory in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, leading the series 2-0.

Celtics supporters are understandably unsettled, prompting team icon Paul Pierce to eat humble pie. During Wednesday’s episode of “Speak,” Pierce humorously declared that he would “walk to work” barefoot in his “bathrobe” if the Celtics were to lose the game, claiming there was “no shot” they would falter again. He even tossed in the quip that it was more likely to see a “dinosaur” outside the FS1 studio than for the Celtics to lose.

However, after the unexpected defeat, Pierce shared a live video of his bathrobe-clad walk to work in Los Angeles, with the dawn breaking behind him on Thursday morning. The Google Maps estimate suggested close to an eight-hour trek to reach the FS1 studio.

Despite the ridicule, Pierce had some aid along the way; he filmed his weekly podcast with former Celtics legend Kevin Garnett, who advised him to “be careful out here, man, wear your seatbelt!” At one point, co-host Keyshawn Johnson surprised him with a bottle of water as he approached the Getty Center, about five miles from the FOX Studio Lot.

Pierce light-heartedly appreciated the gesture from Johnson, saying, “My man ran up on me.”

The Knicks took a 2-0 series lead thanks to defensive plays from Mikal Bridges against Jaylen Brown and an interception of a pass intended for Jayson Tatum. This marks the first time in NBA history that a team has successfully come from behind after trailing by 20 points in consecutive playoff games.

This dramatic comeback comes after the Knicks were convincingly swept by the Celtics earlier in the regular season. The Knicks recently triumphed over the Detroit Pistons in the first round, while the Celtics disposed of the Orlando Magic.

Pierce is a significant part of Celtics history, ranking second in their all-time scoring list with 24,021 points. He not only was the NBA Finals MVP in 2008 but also earned numerous All-NBA and All-Star honors during his illustrious career.

Looking ahead, Game 3 is set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
